says it's one of the singers' most popular tunes.
"I once spoke to Abie Rotenberg," Nadel said. "tie heard that
story and he had to put it [to music]. It was too compelling."
In the event's program, Rabbi Goldman Ivrote a note to his
daughter. He said, "The most important goal of your mother and I
after the devastation of the Holocaust was to provide a strong ...
Torah education for our children and grandchildren ... I am very
proud of who you are and of your many accomplishments ..."
Brystowski's son, David, who is an Akiva fifth-grader, intro-
duced the song about his grandfather.
"Zeydie, after the war, on Simchat Torah in Vilna, you did not
find one Sefer Torah to dance with, but instead you found two
young children without a father and mother," David said. "You
hugged them and danced with them.
"Today, our school is honoring one of the Sifrei Torah that you
and Bubbie raised — the mother of Sonia, Moishie, Daniel and
me. Mommy, my friends and I from the choir are dedicating this
song to you."
A clip from the concert, including this song, will be available on
Akiva's Web site, N‘rw-vsr.akiva.org, starting Nov. 24.
