hir Hadash, the Michigan Conservative movement's
grassroots initiative to promote new sounds in synagogue music,
is hosting a melavah malkah, an informal evening of music and
camaraderie hosted by Congregation Beth Ahm at 7 p.m. Saturday,
Nov. 19. There is no charge.
Melavah Malkah, or "accompanying the Queen," is a beautiful tradition whereby Jews
come together at the conclusion of Shabbat to express, through song, the love of Shabbat.
The series is open to the entire Jewish community, including those not formally affiliated with any
particular movement.
- After Havdalah and a welcoming shiur (discourse) by Rabbi Steven Rubenstein, singing will follow,
led by Beth Ahm's Shabbat Limud music team, Dr. Howard Lupovitch and Ronn, Emily and Rebecca
Nadis. The evening will conclude with a light dessert reception.
Reservations are encouraged but not required - call Tessa Goldberg, (248) 851-6880. To join the
Shir Hadash listsery to receive regular updates on upcoming Shir Hadash activities, contact Dr.
Richard Lederman, at lederman@uscj.org .
