THANKSGIVING FEAST

TURKEY DINNERS!

WHOLE GOURMET TURKEYS

She met Larry about 20 years
ago, when she was a talent book-
er for the David Letterman show
in New York. She saw her future
husband's act, loved it and tried
to get him on the show."David
didn't quite get his humor." But
Laurie, who also has worked as a
personal manager representing
comedians and as a comedy pro-
ducer for Fox Television, did. "He
was brilliantly funny:'
It took a while, but ultimately
Laurie also must have decided
Larry was cute. They married 13
years ago and have two daugh-
ters, 11 and 9. The life of a stand-
up being what it is, Laurie David
continued to work after they
were first married. But along
came Seinfeld, and she became a
stay-at-home mom with time on
her hands.
"What was I going to do with
all that energy?" she asked her-
self. She started volunteering
with the National Resources
Defense Council, "educating
myself as a parent. It opened my
eyes to a lot of things, particu-
larly global warming."

"He's an accidental environ-

go along to keep things happy.
"Basically, I've been a good

me. I'd rather have that than a

Back To Judaism

In addition to fostering her
interest in the environment, her
kids also brought her back to her
roots. David was brought up on
Long Island in a Reform family
that went to synagogue on the
High Holidays. She was not bat
mitzvah; in fact, she quit Sunday
school two months before her
13th birthday celebration. She
does not remember why, only
that "no one forced me to do it,
so I didn't."
But she has become more
observant as an adult. "I think
when you have kids, you want
them to know who they are and
where they came from. I'm very
interested in the traditions of
Judaism, so I started some of my
own."
For example, the family gath-
ers for a Shabbat meal every
Friday evening, candles are lit
and they go around the table
with everyone saying what they
are grateful for.
And, yes, Larry takes part.
"He's totally a member of the
family. He comes to everything;'
she says.
