Can your children compete in the Global Market?
Have they mastered Math and Science to compete?
Your answer is NO!
They're venture capitalists, investment bankers, brokers, attorneys,
financial advisers, bankers — all with an interest in networking to
benefit more than their personal net worth.
Drawing on the collective wisdom and combined resources of
more than 40 professionals in the financial industry, the Financial
Professionals Group of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit is looking to add to their ranks.
Said member Robert Rubin, "We meet to learn from one another.
Networking is encouraged with the primary objective of introducing
younger professionals into a circle where contacts can make all the
difference, not only in their personal careers, but also in their ability
to make a contribution to the community."
"Think of it as high finance with a heart:' said Scott Eisenberg,
another member of the group. "What we offer is an environment
where dreams can come true, but we expect a return on investment.
We're a Federation affinity group and that means we're ultimately
about philanthropy, giving back to the community in which we
enjoy success.
"All are welcome — with the tacit agreement to take an active
interest in the work of Federation and to make a commitment to
fund-raising on behalf of the Annual Campaign."
Since May 2004, when Wall Street money manager, philanthropist
and Jewish Renaissance Media Chairman Michael H. Steinhardt
inspired the group with his personal account of his rise in business,
the Financial Professional Group has reported some astonishing
success stories. In one instance, a high-profile financial professional
lost his position when his company was purchased. Networking with
the group, he learned of an opportunity, landed a senior position
with a major finance company and became a key player in arrang-
ing for and completing an initial public offering.
A young man attended a meeting, looking for a financial partner
in a real estate venture. He made the connection, launching the proj-
ect that has catapulted his career. In another case, a young man,
unhappy in his working environment, sought advice from the group,
and with some guidance and mentoring, found a new position.
Federation's Financial Professional Group committee includes
Scott A. Eisenberg, Ronna Galin, David Gumenick, Selwyn
Isakow, Leo D. Maxbauer, Mitch Mondry, Robert M. Rubin, Tom
Purther and Ron Yolles.
