The term "suffering artist" is a literal term to Moshe Dvash, a 48-
year-old Jerusalem artist who specializes in making silver Judaica
items in the Eastern European filigree-style. He lost brother Elan,
murdered in 1997 by Arab terrorists, and sister Livnat who died in
the 2002 Moment Cafe bombing. Dvash went back to his studio,
continued his work and set out to the United States to sell his art.
His latest stop will be at Esther's Judaica Gift-world at the Sugar
Tree shopping center in West Bloomfield, where sympathetic own-
ers Coby Goutkovich of Farmington Hills and David Mendelson of
West Bloomfield have created a special section in their store for his
art. You can meet Dvash there from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov.
17, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, and at a store reception
from 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. Call (248) 932-3377 for details.

Jessi Kahn of West Bloomfield, Rina Edelson of Franklin and Hana
Berlin of Farmington Hills, all 12, were among more than 60 mid-
dle schoolers who danced to benefit the Jewish National Fund on
Nov. 2 at Shaarey Zedek West Bloomfield, B'nai Israel Center.
Hosted by Edelson as a bat mitzvah project, the kids danced to
tunes donated by Star Trax and ate from a huge spread donated by
Jim Hiller of Hiller's Markets and the Matt Prentice Restaurant
Group. In total, $1,300 was raised. Proceeds will go toward the
building of a Michigan-sponsored water reservoir in Israel.
