Giving Tzedakah

Mordechai "Mason" Horn, 9, of Milford and Yosef

The most fundamental pri-
ority for contributing to
those in need is that a per-
son is obligated to provide
for his own needs and for
those of his immediate
family before he provides
for anyone else. Charity
begins at home.

"Joey" Pearlstein, 7, of Commerce show off the proj-

ects made at Chabad Jewish Center of Commerce's

new religious school. Director Estie Greenberg said,

"Students will gain a wealth of knowledge about

Jewish holidays, history and basic Hebrew skills —

without pressure of books, tests, and traditional

classroom settings." No Jewish educational back-

ground is necessary to attend and no Chabad

Jewish Center membership is required. Students

ages 6.13 may join the once week classes at any

point during the school year, with the cost prorated.

Presented by Lubavitch Women's
Organization. For information on keep-
ing kosher or lighting Shabbat candles,
contact Miriam Amzalak, (248) 548-
6771, miriamamzalak@junu.com

Religious school classes are from 4-5:30 p.m. on

Thursdays. Call Estie Greenberg, (248) 363-3644.

Tuition is $400 per year.

To help consolidate lifecycle list-
ings in one location, we've moved
all b'nai mitzvah announcements
to the Mazel Toy! Section.

Here's Your Chance!

We want to feature a photograph each week to accompany this Synagogue List. Mur congregations are busy doing special things all the time.
This is a great place to showcase them. We're looking for candid photographs featuring action — nothing posed. Please submit photos to us
for consideration. We will share the wealth and rotate among the congregations.
We prefer digital images sent by e-mail. High resolution. High quality, Timely Not too many people. Full identification — name and city as
well as the ages of children. With your photos, send information about the event — what, who, when, where and why. Include a contact and
daytime phone nwnber. Send it all to Sy Manello at smanello@theiewishnews.com or call (248) 351-5147. That's all there is to it!
