Jonathan Rimberg and former Oak Parker Jeff Braverman make up the modern Orthodox duo "Shoresh" (Hebrew for roots). Copland School of Music. His main job involves managing the Nafshenu Orchestra while also producing records at his own studio, Tracks Unlimited. Shoresh formed after the two men became friends while recording Songs of Peace. They have gone on to record Together As One, Shoresh and Candle of Freedom. Rimberg also has recorded A Kumzitz Celebration and Chanukah! Your Favorite Songs. "When it comes to composing the music and writing the lyrics, I do the rough drawings and Jonathan colors in," Braverman explains. "We believe that our styles complement each other!' Both entertainers have family members who also have worked in show business. Braverman's grandmother, Lena Drozen, was a singer on a Yiddish radio show in Buffalo. Rimberg's cousin, Michael Ochs, is a songwriter in Nashville. As their musical careers devel- oped, their families have become close, and they have spent holi- days together as well as time at Camp Nesher. Braverman and his wife, Susan, a Hebrew teacher, have three children: Jordana, 10; Melissa, 7; and Jonah, 5. Rimberg and his wife, Elit, also have three children: Amiel, 7; Yonadav, 4; and Hodaya, 2. "This will be the third time Shoresh has performed in Michigan, and we've had good times with our audiences;' says Braverman, who also recalls bringing the Nafshenu Orchestra to Michigan. "There are certain songs we don't perform with just three of us because the orches- trations just wouldn't be right. Also, some of the messages seem too deep for a cafe program!'
