ROSE ROSENTHAL, 98, of West
Bloomfield, died Oct. 20, 2005. She
was a sales consultant at Henry
Kay jewelry.
Mrs. Rosenthal is survived by
her daughter, Perlyn "Perky"
Ellison; grandchildren, Terry and
Martin W. Hollander, Sandi and
Steven Matz; grandchildren, Jared,
Daniel and Rachel Matz. She was
the beloved wife of the late Irving
Rosenthal; loving mother-in-law
of the late Sheldon Ellison
Interment at Clover Hill Park

JUDITH STULBERG, 86, of
Brooklyn, died Oct. 26, 2005. A
retired teacher of the Detroit
Public Schools, she taught music,
reading and also taught teachers
how to teach reading. She gradu-
ated from Durfee Intermediate
School in 1934 and Central High
School in 1937. She was a member
of the second consecration class at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek in
1935.
Mrs. Stulberg graduated from
the University of Michigan with a
bachelor of music degree in 1941.
She started studying piano at age
8. She had studied with Bendetson
Netzorg of Detroit and Professor
Joseph Brinkman at the University
of Michigan School of Music. She
was described by classical radio
broadcaster Karl Haas as a "formi-
dable talent".
Mrs. Stulberg received a mas-
ter's degree in reading education
in 1971 from Marygrove College in
Detroit. After her retirement, she
taught at the Detroit Institute of
Arts "Arts in the Schools" program
and served as a docent at the
Institute. She also studied Hebrew
in Detroit and Yiddish in Palm
Springs. A member of the
Chamber Music Society of Detroit
and the Music Study Club, Mrs.
Stulberg was a classical pianist
and a prolific writer of musical
lyrics for all occasions. She was an
active member of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek for the over six
decades; she headed the congrega-
