She was a graduate of the University of Detroit Law School and was admitted to the state bar in 1936. She taught library sci- ence studies at Wayne State University and was a librarian at the Oak Park Library and at Temple Beth El. Mrs. Nelson's community involvement included being chair of the Detroit Chapter of the Women's American Jewish Congress, creating dolls for Children's Hospital through E Hadassah. She was also involved with the Torah Study Class at Temple Beth El and the Currents Events Class at Temple Kol Ami. Mrs. Nelson was a multi-media artist who belonged to the Palette and Brush Club, the Scarab Club, the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association, the Cranbrook Academy of Art and the Michigan Surface Design Association.
