A perfect example of these is Moro's Italian Dining on Allen Road, off Southfield, in Allen Park ... celebrating its 25th anniversary with a list of devotees that continues to grow regardless of obsta- cles like gas prices ... The many followers, and they are countless, say "be darned" to higher gas prices, considering it as just another expense in getting what they want. Since originally opening in November 1980, Moro's has become one of the true dining jewels in this region, vaulting itself into a rare exalted class ... In this time, it rolled up production numbers you would hardly associate with a neighborhood restau- rant ... Like selling enough soup in the quarter-cen- tury to fill several swimming pools ... 10 gallons a day, or over 85,000 gallons in the 25 years. Honoring such longevity of the best that Italian dining can offer is most admirable ... with an unbeatable combination of excellent food, superb service, beautiful presentation, and earthy low pric- ing ... Add to this numerous touches of delight, like salad that comes with your dinner entrée being pre- pared tableside, or the complimentary bowl of fruit and nuts after dinner, etc.... Rolling these dining facets into an overall ball of continuous consistency doesn't get much better. Moro's is still a seven-day weekly operation, but has changed its hours for the fall and winter seasons ... Monday-Friday, 11-10; Saturday, 4-10; Sunday, 2- 9. The low prices have continued throughout Moro's 25 dining years ... Imagine that this little 75-seater neighborhood restaurant goes through almost 70,000 pounds of veal per year, or almost 875 tons in its existence. Moro's Italian Dining has enjoyed a highly suc- cessful quarter-century of dining pleasure ... But the enjoyment is second to the pleasure that has been received by its many Metropolitan Detroit cus- tomers. Because it's not every day that you can have a con- versation with people like a true Israeli sabra [native born] about his experiences as a pilot in the Israel Defense Forces, and the extra time he spends after hours, offering his engineering background to the Israeli government on its newest battle tank pro- gram from Warren, Mich.
