Temple Beth El State of Israel
Bonds Dinner on Thursday, Nov.
10, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the

State of Israel Declaration of
Independence Award. The guest
speaker for the event will be
Rabbi Dr. Gerald M. Meister,
authority on Israel-Christian
Relations and Judeo-Christian
history.
Longtime members of Temple
Beth El, the Marxes have been
active members since the mid-
1970s. They have co-chaired
Temple's Philanthropic Funds
Committee and the TBE Soup
Kitchen project. John Marx has
served on Federation Board of
Governors and the JARC Board
of Trustees. Judy Marx has been
the communications director of
Adat Shalom Synagogue for the
past 18 years, is a life member of
National Council of Jewish
Women, a JFMD campaign

Ambassador Speaks

The Greater Lansing Jewish
Welfare Fedeiation and MSU
Hillel will present an evening
with Ambassador Joe Wilson
Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. at the
MSU Kellogg Center auditorium
on Harrison Road in East
Lansing. The event is open to
the public and free of charge.
As the acting ambassador in
Iraq during Operation Desert
Shield, Wilson was responsible
for freeing 150 American
hostages seized by Iraq. He was
the last American official to
meet with Saddam Hussein
before the first Gulf War. In
2003, he was assigned by the
CIA to investigate claims that
Saddam Hussein was seeking to
acquire uranium from Niger to
be used in the further develop-
ment of his nuclear program.
