Glass believes he had heavenly
help on the hole-in-one. His wife
Ali's grandfather, Harry Blau of
West Bloomfield, who died Jan. 6
at. age 87, was an avid golfer. But
despite 60-70 years on the links,
he never shot an ace. "So I put the
ball I used on my hole-in-one in
Florida in his casket;' Glass said.
"When I called my wife and
told her about the hole-in-one (at
Tam O'Shanter), we both thought
about Papa Harry"
Fritz said about $15,000 was
raised at the event, not including
Glass' contribution from the sale
of the BMW.

FOOTWORK: The West
Bloomfield Jewish Academy boys
soccer team continues-on the path
toward respectability. The Jaguars
scored just one goal while losing
all eight games last season, their
first with an all-varsity schedule.
Even though the team lost its
first five games this fall and there
are no seniors on the 20-player
roster, its improving every day.
New coach Dave Pence's squad
scored three goals in its opener, a
7-3 loss to Ann Arbor Gabriel
Richard.
"Opposing coaches and game
officials have told me how much
better we're playing than last year,"
Pence said. Sophomore midfielder
Cobi Vardy and junior midfielder
Brandon Borovoy have shown
great promise.
"Cobi has amazing ball con-
trol. He can dribble past three
or four kids and make them
look silly:' Pence said. "Brandon
also has good ball control and
field vision." ❑
