avid Glass' good fortune
urned out to be a stroke of
luck for the Bear Hug
Foundation.
Glass shot a hole-in-one in the
foundation's inaugural fund-rais-
ing golf outing Sept. 19 at Tam

his first ace at the Westin
Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm
Harbor, Fla., last December.
Friends who are involved with
the foundation told Glass about the
golf outing, called the Great Grizzly
Open. Glass decided to play •

Bloomfield, winning a 2005 BMW
convertible. But the 33-year-old
West Bloomfield resident and
owner of a Farmington Hills mort-
gage company plans to sell the car
and donate a large portion of the
proceeds to the foundation.
The foundation provides sum-
mer camp opportunities for
underprivileged, special needs and
at-risk children. Among the local
organizations that work with it are
JARC and the Friendship Circle.
"I played in the outing to enjoy
time with my friends and help a
children's charity that does great
work',' Glass said. "I don't need
another car:'
Glass, the father of two young
children, drives a Jeep Cherokee.
"What he's doing for us is truly
unbelievable said Jenny Kellman
Fritz, executive director of the Bear
Hug Foundation.
It's also unbelievable that Glass
has shot two holes-in-one in 10
months. The six-year golfer scored

member at Tam O'Shanter. All four
par-3 holes at Tam O'Shanter car-
ried a prize for a hole-in-one. An
ace at No. 2, No. 11 or No. 15
earned $500, and the BMW was up
for grabs at No. 8. Glass' foursome
started at the 10th hole, so No. 8
was their 17th hole and final par-3.
"We had a wait a little before
teeing off at No. 8',' Glass said. "We
kibitzed about winning the car, but
nobody thought seriously about it"
Glass normally uses a 4- or 5-
iron on the 185-yard hole, but he
switched to a 3-iron because it was
playing into a stiff wind. It turned
out to be a perfect choice.
"The ball had a good flight,
drawing toward the flag:' Glass
said. "It bounced once and rolled
right into the hole."
Glass' group included his broth-
er-in-law, David Rubin of Franklin.
Rubin came close to an ace on the
11th hole, leaving his shot two feet
from the cup.
