• Food produced emphasizing the
use of renewable resources and
soil and water conservation;
• Meat, poultry and dairy products
that come from animals given no
antibiotics or growth hormones;

the use of most pesticides;
fertilizers using synthetics
',. / or sewage; bioengineering;
and ionizing radiation.
• A USDA agent has cer-
tified the food producer
before its food can be
labeled, "organic."

abbreviated summary
(percentages do not apply
to added salt and water):
• "100% Organic" means the food
item must contain 100% organic
ingredients, and may display the
USDA organic seal.
• "Organic" means the item
contains at least 95% organic
ingredients, and may display the
USDA organic seal.
• "Made With Organic Ingredi-
ents" means the item contains
some organic ingredients, must
show an ingredient statement,
and may not display the USDA
seal.
