need of minor home repairs,
and indoor/outdoor cleanup.
Teams of volunteers will rake
leaves, hang pictures,
clean/organize basements, win-

bulbs, and do other minor home
repairs.

Fall Fix Up. The committee

Answer That Phone

When you get that call from vol-
unteers for Super Sunday know
that what you pledge to the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's 2006 Annual Campaign
will make a difference.

'TN October 13 . 2005

Calls will be made by hun-
dreds of community volunteers
from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. this
Sunday, Oct. 16. Funds raised
will benefit the Jewish commu-
nity's health, educational, social
and cultural serv-
ices and pro-
grams.
"With the ter-
rible devastation
of the Gulf
Coast, we've
seen a tremen-
dous outpour-
ing of
response on
the part of our Jewish
community," said Lawrence Lax,
who co-chairs Super Sunday
with Nancy Grosfeld.
"We realize we have a chal-
lenge in keeping the momentum
going on in behalf of those who
are in pain or struggling to sur-
vive here in Detroit and
throughout the Jewish world.
But in times of crisis, in times of
overwhelming need, our com-
munity has always responded
generously"
The Annual Campaign sup-
ports 18 local agencies, includ-
ing Jewish Family Services, JVS,
Jewish Community Center,
Jewish day schools, Hillel and
Tamarack Camps. Overseas, the
campaign impacts thousands of
lives in Israel, in the former
Soviet Union, in Argentina,
wherever Jews are in need.
This year, every increase in
pledge or new gift to
Federation's 2006 Annual
Campaign will be matched dol-
lar-for-dollar through the gen-
erosity of Bloomfield Hills phi-
lanthropist A. Alfred Taubman
Challenge Fund. Taubman estab-
lished the fund this year to
honor the memory of his close
friend, Max M. Fisher.
