IT'LL ALMOST
be like coming back
home again, says Rick
Halberg, owner of the fine
Emily's restaurant in
Northville ... For the past 11
years since the opening of
Emily's, Rick tells of so
Danny Raskin
many people asking for the
favorite dishes they used to Senior Columnist
get at R.I.K.s, his former
eatery in West Bloomfield ... Items like robilita
soup, thin-crust pizza, delicious brownies, etc.
Rick's second restaurant, Tutto Bene, opening
sometime in November, will have the delights for
both take-out and dining-in ... along with Tuscan-
style pasta, soups, salads, side dishes, desserts, etc.
... His second restaurant will open at the former site
of Ors Sushi Bar, tucked away on the corner of
Orchard Lake Road, just south of 13 Mile,
Farmington Hills.
ITS RECENT first one was such a crowded suc-
cess that Yossi's Israeli Cuisine has slated a second
singalong for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 ... The funfest
will again be at the popular restaurant on the north
side of Robin's Nest, Orchard Lake Road north of 14
Mile, West Bloomfield.
OTHER THAN ITEMS on Darbys, Boeskys and
Zingerman's from this area, former Detroiter
Sheryll Rott Bellman's book, America's Great Delis:
Recipes and Traditions from Coast to Coast, will
have a section on ex-localite Meyer "Mac" Fagelman
... Mac and wife, Grace, left here for El Paso, Texas,
in the late 1940s and opened Mac's Delicatessen
there ... He and localite Bella Linden (Sam) were
brother and sister, and a niece, Cynthia Linden
Ruben, also still lives hereabouts.
America's Great Delis is expected to be at Borders
and Barnes & Nobel this month.
THE NEW pre-fixe menu at Rochester Chop
House on Main, downtown Rochester, is available
only between 5 and 9 on Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday evenings ... Four courses include selections
of appetizers, entrees, salads and desserts, $24.95
per person.
PUBLIC RELATIONS gent Bob Moreillon, Chuck
Muer's former blaster before Ron Hoffman, tells of a
friend's daughter asking the waitperson at a local
restaurant for "minimal lettuce" ... I'm sorry:' he
said, "but we only have iceberg:'
ANOTHER BIG NIGHT is this year's annual
"Lights, Camera, Auction!" event by Variety, the
Children's Charity, Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Novi's
Emagine Theater ... Sneak preview again of a major
movie, silent auction, strolling supper, etc ... 2005
co-chairs are Michael Bressler and Judith Solomon.
FORMER MUMFORD High grad Russi Arden,
who went on to become the only Jewish Playboy

Bunny in Detroit, is searching for a 1958 Mumford
yearbook ... She graduated in 1959 but lost the one
she had from 1958 in which Russi knew so many in
the class ... If you have a book for her, please send it
to me at the Jewish News, 29200 Northwestern
Highway, Suite 110, Southfield, MI 48034, or leave it
at the Jewish News front desk ... Her upcoming
book, Every Man's Fantasy, is ready to be published
... Of course, if you know where she can also get a
Mumford yearbook from 1959, Russi would sure
appreciate that one too.
EVERY TIME SHE tried to throw away the
manila folder, her fox terrier, Peppy, barked louder
... Finally, Martha Levy opened it up and found a
bone nestled against the diamond watch that had
evidently fallen from her wrist over a month ago ...
Peppy now has enough treats to open his own pet
store.
GET WELL WISHES ... To Dorothy Glick ... To
Nettie Newman ... To Thelma Langwald.
CONGRATS ... To Blanche Duke on her birthday
... To Marion Grant on her 80th birthday.
REUNION DEPT.... 30-year shindig by
Southfield-Lathrup High class of 1975, is Saturday,
Nov. 26, at Novi Sheraton ... $75 per person
advance; at door $90 ... Cash bar, entertainment and
dancing ... For more info, call Ronald Silberstein,
(248) 330-6226, or e-mail ronscpa@aol.com .
I know it's a year away, but here's the date to start
making arrangements for the Oak Park High class-
es of 1965 and 1966 combined 40-year togetherness
biggie ... It'll be Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at the Westin
Hotel, Southfield ... For more info, 1965 grads can
contact Donna Weiss Litinsky, (248) 865-1666, or
Bob Vanness, (248) 544-0982, e-mail
bvsst@aol.com ... 1966 cap 'n gowners should get in
touch with Linda Ketterer, (248) 661-0193, e-mail
ikett24@hotmail.com .
MUST BE SOME sort of a record in the advertis-
ing business being held by adman Harry Goldberg
... He has had the Father & Son Construction Co.
account ... newspaper, radio and television for more
than 35 years ... That radio and television jingle,
"We're father and son, we do it all:' was written by
Harry all those years ago.
QUESTION & ANSWER DEPT....
Q. "We are planning a 60th reunion of our pledge
class of Phi Delta, Fall 1947, and cannot locate a
missing fraternity brother, Norman Kroll (wife
Marilyn) of Highland Park, Ill. Can you help us?" ...
Martin Kohlenberg, Huntington Woods.
A. There is no listing for a Norman Kroll in
Highland Park,
He may have moved since
there is a Norman Kroll in Park Ridge, Ill., and a
Norman W. Kroll in Arthur,
Sure hope I can
help ... By the way, Martin, you take fine pictures at
the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame's annual
induction dinners.
