•Eat out to benefit hunger nights

All proceeds benefit Yad Ezra, with
non-kosher food items going to
Gleaners.

Beginning with this Rosh Hashanah issue and continuing through the
Jewish year, the Jewish News will be battling hunger in our community
through a dedicated advocacy campaign.
Our campaign aims to spotlight the problem through frequent stories and
commentary and by acting as a catalyst for community action to combat
the problem. Today we take an in-depth look at Yad Ezra, Michigan's only
kosher food pantry, and the wonderful work it does to care for Jews in need.
In a community such as ours, many more people than most of us imagine
struggle to make ends meet and put food on the table. Hunger is a problem
we all can rally around. At the JN, we've embraced it as our cause.
The JN plans to affect change by joining forces with you — our communi-
ty — to spur action that will help agencies like Yad Ezra and Gleaners Food
Bank of Southeast Michigan care for those in need.
We hope to energize all facets of the community to join us in initiating
their own projects to fight hunger. These projects will find their way onto the
pages of the JN, and hopefully encourage others to meet the challenge.
As we go forward in this fight against hunger, join us. We need your help
— so do those struggling in our community.
