Schiff. In addition, Rosenfeld men- tions Roman Greenberg, a prom- ising fighter who was formerly in the Israel Defense Forces. But, at 74, boxing isn't the same as it used to be for Rosenfeld. "I don't want to say that I'm bored with the sport" says the self-described expert on "the small-club and unknown fights of the 1930s to the 1950s." "I guess I'm just old-school:' he said. "I don't think the sport changed; I think I changed. You move on." Yet, Rosenfeld admits, the memories and nostalgia still get him going. When he was young, his father's building tradesmen would come to his home on Friday night to be paid. Then they would stay to listen to the 10 p.m. fights on the radio. "Sam Taub and Bill Stern would give the blow by blow. To me, that was boxing. You couldn't match those descriptions." And while many have called for outlawing boxing, Rosenfeld remains a defender of the sport. "It has limitations, rules:' he said. "There's a referee and 2- or 3- minute rounds. You don't have to kill or quit. "It's a commoner's sport — not everyone can be a quarter- back. It's for the poor. It's not dying. It's not like Bruce Lee, where everything has to be smashed or destroyed:' ❑ BRAD "BUBBA" URDAN I JUST WANTED TO TAKE SOME TIME TO LET EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY KNOW HOW THANKFUL I AM FOR ALL OF THE SUPPORT THAT YOU GIVE ME ON A DAILY BASIS.
