Josh Hilberman on tap:

"It's a real dance of

the people."

In his 20s, Hilberman created
a somewhat controversial one-
man dance show called "White
Jew Blues" and performed it in
Boston and New York. "It was
sort of a coming-of-age, light-
hearted show where I danced
and talked and read poems
about racism and reverse
racism," he said. "It got good
reviews and stirred up a lot of
comment."
Hilberman formerly was a
choreographer in residence with
a Canadian dance company
called Decidedly Jazz
Danceworks and a faculty
member at the Leon Collins
Dance Studio and Mt.
Holyoke College in Boston.
He has danced with such
notable tap stars as James
"Buster" Brown, Brenda
Bufalino, Joe "Buck-n-Wing"
Stirling and Tony Award win-
ner Savion Glover, who will
appear at the Opera House
Nov. 19-20.
