they audibly gasped when they
heard that the employee didn't
recognize Oprah and that the

French hadn't bestowed Jerry
Lewis status on their Wonder
Girl.
All became right in Oprah's
world at the end, when she
accepted the apology and told the
audience they could start shop-
ping there again. I wonder how
many people in the audience got
online when they got home and
bought a $10,000 purses because
Oprah told them to?
Some say that Oprah's show
jumped the shark when she trot-
ted out John Travolta for the
umpteenth mutual-admiration
blubberfest and after the Tom
Cruise couch-jumping incident,
but I disagree.
Oprah didn't jump the shark;
she is the shark, and we're just
the smaller fish who try to stay
on her good side.
