Campus Coalition launched a new
effort to enhance relationships between
American universities and Israel.
"Israel Begins With I," which
includes efforts to offer campuses an
image of Israel beyond the Palestinian-
Israeli conflict, was launched Sept. 8
in New York.
The program will be customized for
individual campuses, said Lynne
Schusterman, whose Charles and Lynn
Schusterman Family Foundation
founded the ICC coalition in 2002
along with Hillel: The Foundation for
Jewish Campus Life and other organi-
zations.

Washington/JTA — A group of conser-
vative Jewish lawyers launched a blog
on U.S. Supreme Court nominations
and confirmation hearings.
The blog, titled "Judge and Jewry:
Above the Din," was launched last

Ballabon said in the inaugural post-
ing that judicial nominations are the

Court Rules For Survivors
New York/JTA — AU
U.S. appeals court
upheld a ruling that allows part of the
money from a Holocaust settlement to
be distributed based on need.
The ruling issued last Friday con-
firmed Judge Edward Korman's ruling
that the portion of the $1.25 billion
Swiss banks settlement set aside for
individual survivors should be weight-
ed to survivors living in the former
Soviet Union because they are needier.
Some $800 million of the settle-
ment was set aside for victims or their
families with Holocaust-era bank
accounts; the remainder was set aside
for other survivors.

Abdullah II will deliver an address
aimed at bringing Muslims and Jews
closer together.
The lecture, set for Sept. 21 in
Washington, is titled "Islam and

He is reaching out to Christian groups
during his Washington stay.
The Charge
After Yasser Arafat died last year,
many senior Palestinian officials
and the P.L.O.'s official newspa-
per, Al Hayat al Jadida, said
Israel had poisoned him.

The Answer
Recently released information
reveals that Arafat died of a mas-
sive brain hemorrhage caused by
a stroke. The exact cause of this
fatal condition was not identi-
fied conclusively, and specula-
tion that Arafat had AIDS or
some other serious infection
continues.
