Women's Night Out

The annual tri-synagogue Women's
Night Out will be Thursday, Sept. 22,
at 6:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community
Center in Oak Park.
The evening's topic will be "Jewish
Women Together: Defining and
Creating a Strong Community." A
vegetarian meal will be served.
Speakers will include Marion
Freedman, past director of
Neighborhood Project; Lori
Hessenthaler of Beth Shalom; Elaine
C. Driker of Temple Emanu-El;
Bellischa Mendelsohn of Young Israel
of Oak Park and Dalia Rogers, yoga
instructor.
The cost of the dinner is $15 per
person and reservations are required.
Participants are asked to bring a
kosher, nonperishable food item to
donate to Yad Ezra, Berkley.

Downtown Outreach

The Isaac Agree Downtown
Synagogue is hosting a Jewish commu-
nity outreach forum 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 22, at the synagogue,
1457 Griswold, Detroit.
Detroit City Council candidates
have been invited to discuss equal eco-
nomic opportunity, equal legal protec-
tion and deregulation. Moderator will
be DaVid Powell-ben Avraham.
Minchah will be at 7 p.m. and a
kiddush reception will follow the
7:30 p.m. forum.

Bereavement Group Meets

An evening bereavement support
group meets 7 p.m. Mondays at
Temple Israel: Sept. 19, 26 and Oct.
10, 24. The group is facilitated by
Barbara Gordon and David Techner.
Group members will learn strategies
for dealing with the loss of a loved one
in a caring, supportive environment.
Reservations are required.
In addition, a drop-in bereavement
group meets 10-11 a.m. Wednesday
mornings: Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 9,
23 and Dec. 7. Sessions are facilitated
by Simona Seiderman.
