First, and most importantly,
nutritional counseling can give
practical tools in the form of a
customized dietary plan, appropri-
ate exercise recommenda-
tions, the latest nutritional
information/knowledge, and
a partner (counselor/coach)
than can inspire even a
diabetic of many years to
change.

The right meal plan and
caloric level can help
improve blood glucose,
blood pressure, choles-
terol numbers, and also
make it easier to maintain
proper weight. Enhancing
overall health can prevent compli-
cations such as heart disease, some •
cancers, and hypertension. This
can open the opportunity fOr the
whole family to share and benefit
from these improved lifestyles.

Seeking help can be a springboard
to broader success. It's not, ust
about diet and exercise — a good
counselor/coach and caring doctor,
working as a team, can address the
whole person, i.e., the mind, body,
and spirit. •
