Congregation Ahavas Israel in Grand
Rapids has been selected to receive a
Solomon Schechter Award for
Excellence in Synagogue
Programming from the United
Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

Aaron L. Scheinker of Farmington
Hills has been accepted to the
Michigan College of Optometry at
Ferris State University in Big Rapids.
His undergraduate work was complet-
ed at Oakland University in Rochester
and he has a bachelor of science
degree in biology and a concentration
in pre-optometry. He is employed by
Dr. Fred Wiser, who has practices in
Walled Lake and South Lyon.

The Temple Israel Treasures affiliate in
West Bloomfield installed a new
board. The new officers are: president,
Ida Nathan; vice president, Alan
Nathan; treasurer, Caroline Miller;
financial secretary, Ethel Traurig; pro-
gram chair, Howard Green; recording
secretary, Lorriane Lotzoff; correspon-
ding secretary, Esther Ressler.

Dr. Steven Pollens, former Detroiter

Daniel Levin of Huntington Woods
and Kimberly Spaulding of
Farmington Hills were among 12
graduates of Wayne State University in
Detroit inducted into the David
Mackenzie Honor Society. Levin
received two scholarships and majored
in finance. Spaulding was a presiden-
tial scholar and majored in elementary
education mathematics.

Julie Camden, formerly of
Birmingham of Carmel, Ind., made
the dean's list and the honor roll in
her first term of study at the Thomas
M. Cooley Law School in Lansing.
She is a graduate of Birmingham

is the daughter of Edith Rubenfaer.

Dr. Earl K. Bogrow of Huntington
Woods received the Fellowship Award
from the Academy
of General
Dentistry at its
annual meeting.
The award is grant-
ed to dentists look-
ing to provide the
highest quality of
dental care by
remaining current
Bogrow
in their profession.
Bogrow completed
500 hours of continuing dental educa-
tion, passed a comprehensive written
exam and fulfilled three years of con-
tinuing membership with the AGD.
