S Continuedfrom page 14 but a guy can dream, can't he? The V8, 4.6-liter aluminum block engine boasts 300 throaty horses and 320 lb-ft of torque. It thunders from 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. According to Motor Trend magazine, its base price of $26,330 is a bit more than the 1968 price of $2,737 would be in today's dollars. The car I drove was painted satin silver and cost $27,495. Alas, the car does not yet come in dark green as the photo shows — that was computer magic (it will be available in green in 2008 to coincide with the movie's 40th anniversary). But the styling was retro enough to make envious the 2003 Mustang GT driver I spotted in traffic. The interior is old school, with a needle-gauged instrument panel to make you remember days of 45-cent-a- gallon gasoline. But it also has those modern-day touches like CD and MP3 players and brushed aluminum accents. The 2005 GT gets 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, but truth is, it probably got 12 mpg with me behind the wheel. It must have been the turtleneck. 111 Thanks to Tom Holzer Ford in Farmington Hills for allowing Cool Runnings to take the Mustang GT for a spin. he all new STS A car that will make your desires come true The road doesn't stand a chance AUDETTE www.audettecadillac.com BREAK 1:* THROUGH 7100 Orchard Lake Road, W.
