Oakland County-based Etkin Equities
has been selected to provide exterior
facilities management for the 200-acre
Eugene and Marcia Applebaum Jewish
Community Campus in West
Bloomfield. Under the contract, Etkin
will direct all exterior management,
including snow removal, lawn care
and landscaping, parking, signage and
lighting maintenance as well as associ-
ated budgeting and reporting.

Samuel Hurwitz and P. Mark
Accettura of the estate planning firm
Accettura and Hurwitz in Farmington
Hills have published a 137-page book,

Medicaid and Long Term Care in
Michigan-Getting Good Care Without
Going Broke. The book, at $16.90, is

Barry Rosen, Wayne State University
professor and chair of biochemistry .
and molecular biology on the Detroit
campus, has been appointed by the
U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency to serve as a member of the
Science Advisory Board Arsenic
Review Panel. He will provide inde-
pendent expert advice to the EPA on
scientific issues related to the agency's
assessment of the carcinogenic effects
of inorganic and organic arsenic com-
pounds.

Jeffrey B. Schlussel of Huntington
Woods has joined the firm of Carson
Fischer PLC of Birmingham.
Schlussel, a member of the Michigan
and Illinois bar associations, concen-
trates his practice in all aspects of real
estate acquisition, finance and land
use. He is a past recipient of
Federation's Frank A. Wetsman Young
Leadership Award.

Daniel S. Horwitz of West Bloomfield
is the new ritual director at Synagogue
Emanu-El, a Conservative congrega-
tion in Charleston, S.C. He will serve
as cantor, bar and
bat mitzvah tutor,
Torah reader, youth
and teen director,
mentor to Jewish
students at the
College of
Charleston and as
the Jewish chaplain
at the Citadel.
Horwitz completed Horwitz
his requirements
for a bachelor of
arts from Brandeis University in
Waltham, Mass., and is enrolled in the
master's program in Judaic studies at
Gratz College. He is the son of Arthur
and Gina Horwitz.

Amherst Partners LLC and the Pillar
Group LLC have merged. Under the
Amherst Partners name, the firms will
be based in Birmingham. Pillar
Group's three principals, James
Bitterle, Kenneth Jacobson Jr. and
Sheldon Stone, will join the firm as

managing directors. Jacobson will also
act as CFO. Bud Aspatore will
become the chairman of the combined
organizations with Scott Eisenberg as
managing partner.
