Digest Holy Wars' Series Set Rabbi Herbert Yoskowitz will open Adat Shalom Synagogue's fall evening programming with a three-part series on "Holy Wars and Holy Warriors." Classes are set for 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 8, 15 and 22. Rabbi Yoskowitz will teach about three aspects of this Rabbi Yoskowitz struggle: On Sept. 8 he will discuss "Apocalyptic and Messianic Traditions in Judaism, Christianity and Islam." The following week, he will explore "The Roles of Jewish, Christian and Muslim Fundamentalisms in the Turmoil in the Middle East." Beth Ahm Open House Congregation Beth Ahm will hold an open house for new, old and prospec- tive members on Sunday, Sept 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. Visitors will be able to meet the new rabbi, religious school director, nursery school director and lay leaders. This year's "Time of Remembrance" has special significance as it is also the anniversary of the country's 9-11 tragedy. A Rabbi For The Holidays Congregation Chaye Olgm's Cantor Stephen Dubov and his daughter Aleksandra, an Indiana University voice major, will have company on the bimah for the High Holidays. The congregation has engaged Rabbi Aaron Bergman, former rabbi of Congregation Beth Ahm, to co-offici- ate. Rabbi Bergman is a graduate of the Rabbi Bergman University of Michigan and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He did graduate work in Jewish folklore at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and has taught courses in Jewish mysticism, humor, poetry and culture. He is director of Jewish studies and rabbinics instructor at the Jewish Academy of Metropolitan Detroit in West Bloomfield. Also returning for the fourth year will be the voice faculty from Interlochen Academy. It will provide choral support throughout the holi- days.
