Multi-Generational

Molly Rose Wilson has plenty of family to look after her

BILL CARROLL

he Hebrew phrase dor rdor (from gener-
ation to generation) takes on a special
meaning for the Forstadt-Freedman-
Lekowitz-Wilson family of West Bloomfield.
Only in their case, it's five generations.
When Molly Rose Wilson was born May 25,
five generations celebrated. And it was the sec-
ond time five generations gathered for the birth
of a new family member.
Molly's mother is Stacy Bishop Wilson, 28.
The grandmother in the five-generation chain is
Laurie Alpert Lefkowitz, 50. The great-grand-
mother is Rochelle (Shelly) Freedman, 70; and
is Mae Aller, 91,
the b cr reat-areat-arandmother
b
b
who returned to Michigan recently after living
for 30 years in Florida.
All the generations — except Stacy — have
red hair and freckles, and none of us looks our
age," beamed Laurie. "It's hard to believe that
my mother is a 70-year-old great-grandmother!"
Molly also has a 15-year-old aunt, Nicole
Bishop, and three uncles in their 20s — Chad,
Adam and Jacob Bishop.
Molly's birth caps off four generations on her

father's side of the family. The second generation
is Dad, Craig Wilson; the third is her grandpar-
ents, Ellen and Allan Wilson of Waterford, plus
Alan Bishop of Orchard Lake; and the fourth is
her great-grandparents, Fran Goldstein of West
Bloomfield and Mildred and Nat Hocherman of
Florida.
Molly is named after Molly Tunis, Mae Aller's
mother, who died at 92, about 20 years ago.
When Stacy was born 28 years ago, she was at the
"bottom" and Molly Tunis at the "top" of another
five-generation ladder. Mae, who won a Miss
Toronto contest at the age of 18, now has two
children, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchil-
dren and one great-great-grandchild

Three-hundred people attended the baby-nam-
ing ceremony, with Rabbi Harold Loss of Temple
Israel officiating. Everyone in the family belongs
to the West Bloomfield temple.
"It's amazing to see five generations of the same
family look and act so much alike," said Rabbi
Loss.
"We just don't do anything the normal way in
ow- family," added Laurie. "When we have a sim-
cha, like a bar mitzvah or wedding, the members
of the extended families within the big family get
together and have a great time." II
