Furstenberg
she should
bottle the
smell and sell
it as cologne on the Diller-owned
QVC shopping network. I'd suggest
"English Leather" as a name, but I
believe its been taken.
Actresses Mary-Kay and Ashley
Olsen will soon return to New York
University for their sophomore year,
and maybe they'll continue with
their off-campus studies, or as I call
them, "Famous Jews Teach Really
Rich Teens a Trade."
Last year, Mary-Kay interned with
legendary (Jewish) photographer
ANNIE LEIBOVITZ, while Ashley
interned with hot young (Jewish)
clothing designer ZAC POSEN.
Kosher Campaigning
In California, where I live, most res-
idents don't even know their two
U.S. senators are Jewish women. So,
I particularly enjoy New York. City's
old-fashioned ethnic politicking.
In recent weeks, Mayor
MICHAEL BLOOMBERG went
upstate to campaign among vaca-
tioning Orthodox voters, while U.S.
Rep. ANTHONY WEINER, who
hopes to get the Democratic nomi-
nation to run against Bloomberg,
sent out a flier with big pictures of
his bar mitzvah.
Such politics can backfire: In
1972, Sen. George McGovern, the
Democratic presidential nominee,
was campaigning in a New York
Jewish neighborhood. He went up
to a pushcart selling hot dogs and
said to the vendor, "I'll have one."
The vendor replied, "Kosher or not
kosher?" The TV news crews cover-
ing McGovern caught an aide saying
in the senator's ear, "Say kosher."
McGovern told the vendor, "Kosher,
and a carton of milk."
Cole Cave Chills
Summer isn't summer without a raft
of film horror/thrillers. Opening
Aug. 26 is The Cave, about a group
of crack cave explorers who are
called in to explore a huge under-
ground cavern found beneath a
ruined Romanian abbey. The
thriller/chiller part comes in when
the explorers find an unknown
),
species of "bloodthirsty creatures.
COLE HAUSER, 30, a handsome
and talented actor, plays the lead
explorer. Hauser has mostly been
seen in supporting roles ( White
Oleander, 2
Fast, 2
Furious). His
mother is

The new star of the Andiamo family.

founded Warner Bros. His father,
character actor Wings Hauser, isn't
Jewish.
Cole came off as a sharp guy
when he appeared on the IFC cable
program Dinner for Five. He men-
tioned that when he played a racist
skinhead in the film Higher
Learning, he researched the role by
talking to some hard-core racists but
avoided telling them about his own
"Jewish and Irish" background.
