Arts & Entertainment Orchard Lake Art Ed Cherniak's photos of Detroit area landmarks will be part of the Orchard Lake Fine Art Show, running Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6-7, on the Orchard Lake St. Mary's campus, located on Orchard Lake Road at Commerce. Ed Cherniak's "Spirit of Detroit" An Artist Preview Party runs 6-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, and includes complimentary food and entertainment; the cost is $25 per person. Cherniak, who will feature black and white images of familiar sites, such as the entrance to Comerica Park, the marquis at the Fox Theatre and the Joe Louis fist statue in downtown Detroit, will be among 150 artists whose works include paint- ings, ceramics and sculpture. A specially built land- scape display, demonstrations and food round out the event. Cherniak, a West Bloomfield attorney who uses Best Bets infrared film for a grainy effect in his work, had been a photo hobbyist for 30 years before becoming a photo artist just a few years ago. "My interest in photogra- phy kept growing," says Cherniak. "I read books, took classes and set up a studio and dark room in my home."
