In Search of

Daisy Duke

I

t 's too many miles to Hazzard County,

and I only have the car for a few hours.
The 2006 Dodge Charger R/T has
been re-introduced to coincide with the new
The Dukes of Hazzard movie, starring Jessica
Simpson as Daisy Duke, her short-shorts and
some other actors. It opens on Aug. 5.
The movie is a remake of that tacky 1970s
television series that featured Catherine
Bach in the lead female role, an orange
Dodge Charger and some other actors.
I could only find a midnight blue Charger,
so I figured orange shorts would suffice, and
the wonderful ladies at Hooters of Novi were
all too happy to fill in.

It also gave me the chance to get on the
highway and get an extremely fast car to go
extremely fast.
With 350 horses and 390 lb-ft of torque at
4,000 rpm, the car does the 1/4-mile in 14.1
seconds.
The Charger's base price is $29,320, and
my car came to $34,165, loaded with extra
features like a GPS navigation system, trip
computer, a sound system with six acoustic
speakers, a 322-watt amplifier and a Sirius
satellite radio system.
The real fun, however, is when I shut off
the radio and hear the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi
engine when I step on the gas.
