The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit invites single parents with chil-
dren ages 15 and younger to attend a
retreat sponsored by its Single Parent
Family Network on Sunday, July 31,
through Thursday, Aug. 4, at Butzel
Conference Center in Ortonville.
Retreat activities will include boat-
ing, horseback riding, rock climbing,
hiking, family sports, campfires and
arts and crafts. The Butzel center can
accommodate 19 families.
Single Parent Family Camp is made
possible through the generosity of
Sally and Graham Orley. Family

will share her personal account of
cancer recovery in "The Healing
Power of Music."
The event will be 6:30 p.m.

event will benefit the Children's
Home and the JWI Treatment
Center in Israel.

Mideast Issues Lectures Set
Dr. Frederic S. Pearson, professor of
political science and director of the
Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at
Wayne State University in Detroit, will
open his four-session lecture series on
Middle Eastern Issues Wednesday, July
27, 2:30 p.m. at the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
The series is being presented by the
Institute for Retired Professionals
History and International Relations dis-
cussion groups and is underwritten by
the Harry Kirsch Fund for Programs on
International Relations. The programs
are open to all at no charge.
