I've driven much higher-priced perform-
ance cars with racing-type gear-shifting
paddles on the steering wheel and no
clutch, but they all seem sluggish and jerky
compared to this Audi — the DSG shifts
about five times faster than any of them.
The A3 I drove cost just over $30,000,
and featured a premium package that
included 17-inch alloy wheels, a trip com-
puter, multi-function steering wheel,
leather seats and fog lights. A moon roof
. and navigation system also are available.
The A3 gets 25 mpg in the city and 31
mpg on the highway; it has plenty of room
for storage — it's a hatchback for God's
sake.
But sitting in the driver's seat, down-
shifting with those paddles on the open
road, you'd have to look in the back seat
to realize it. ❑
