Susan and Gary Lieberman and

Torah on the occa-
sion of his bar
mitzvah at Temple
Israel Saturday,
June 25. His
grandparents are
Fran and Bill
Hamburger. He is
also the grand-
child of the late
Ann and Sidney
Lieberman. His late great-grandpar-
ents are Leah and Abe Schwartz,
Hattie and Cecil Hamburger, Rose
and William Solomon, and Lena
and Jacob Lieberman.
Andrew is an honor student at
Walled Lake Middle School. As part
of his mitzvah projects, he helped at
a nursing home, ran a concession
stand for the Math-Pentathalon
Competition in Walled Lake and
volunteered at Temple Israel's Labor
Day picnic. In addition, he donated
to the Holocaust Memorial Center
in Farmington Hills.

her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel
Saturday, June 25.
She is the daugh-
ter of Dr. Jaclyn
Randel and David

Norman Randel. Her proud great-
grandmother is Gertrude Weintraub.
Marissa attends Walnut Creek
Middle School in Walled Lake. She
volunteered at the Jewish Federation

Purim Parcel Project, worked in
Temple Israel's library and donated
funds to Friendship Circle as part of
her mitzvah experience.

Penina Beryl Kotler Rubin of West
Bloomfield will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah Saturday,
June 25, at
Congregation
B'nai Moshe. She
is the daughter of
Ellen Kotler and
Donald Rubin and
sister of Joshua.
Proud grandpar-
ents are Elsie
Kotler, May
Blechman and
Harold Rubin, and Sylvia Rubin.
Penina is also the granddaughter of
the late Sidney Kotler and the late
Nate Berlin.
Penina is an eighth-grade honor
student at Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield. Mitzvah
projects include making dolls at
Hadassah House, a Locks of Love
hair donation, volunteering for the
Federation mitzvah project, collect-
ing 1,400 books for a Detroit ele-
mentary school and helping with
various synagogue activities.

Frank Benjamin Shapiro celebrated
his bar mitzvah Saturday, June 4, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek
Southfield.
Participating in
the joyous occa-
sion were his
proud parents,
Margot and
Michael Shapiro,
and grandparents
Harriet and Bill
Sherr of Michigan and Florence and
Jerry Shapiro of Ohio.
Frank is an honor student at
Cranbrook Middle School for Boys
in Bloomfield Hills. His community
involvement includes projects for
JARC, raising money for muscular
dystrophy and collecting athletic
equipment for underprivileged chil-
dren to help create new sports
leagues for Think Detroit.

Zachary MacKay Tlumak, son of
Judy and Jay Tlumak, will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah Friday,
June 24, at Temple Shir Shalom. He
is the younger brother of Aaron and
Ashley. His very proud grandmother
