Jake Scott Balbes, son of Pamela and
Barry Balbes, will read from the Torah
on the occasion of his bar mitzvah
Friday, June 17, at
Temple Israel. He is
the brother of
Alana. His proud
grandparents are
Marilyn and Paul
Silverstein and
Peggy and Henry
Balbes. He is also
the grandchild of
the late A. Richard Silverman and the
late Selma Balbes.
Attending Berkshire Middle School in
Birmingham, Jake chose to help at
Gleaners Community Food Bank in
Detroit and also at Yad Ezra in Berkley
as part of his mitzvah projects.

Emily Taylor Berger will read from the
Torah at Havdalah services Saturday,
June 18, at Temple Israel. She is the
daughter of Jodi
and Marc Berger
and the sister of
Jordan and Evan.
Her proud grand-
parents are Frances
and Herbert Berger,
Karen and Robert
Skall and Phyllis
Skall.
Emily is a student
at Cranbrook/Kingswood in Bloomfield
Hills. Her mitzvah projects included
organizing a fund-raiser at her school to
raise funds for the Food Allergy
Anaphalaxis Network and helping
fourth-graders with their homework at
Roosevelt Elementary School.

Kelsey Erin Berlinberg and Jason
Daniel Berlinberg of Littleton, Colo.,
will celebrate their b'nai mitzvah in
Colorado on Saturday, June 18. In cele-
bration of this milestone, a party will be
held in their
honor in
Detroit.
Kelsey and
Jason are the
children of Les
and Al
Berlinberg.
They are the
Jason and Kelsey
grandchildren of
Rose Berlinberg of Delray Beach, Fla.,
and Marilyn and Fred Krainen of West
Bloomfield. They are also the grand-
children of the late Joseph Berlinberg.

Leah Erin Breish will become a bat
mitzvah at Congregation Shir Tikvah
Saturday, June 18. Her proud parents
are Allen and Marlene Breish.

For Love and is in the process of grow-
ing her hair long enough for another
donation.

Jacqueline Sarah Coden was called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah Saturday,
March 19, at Congregation Beth Am
in San Diego. She is the daughter of Liz
and Dan Coden
and sister of Lauren
and Benjamin.
Proud grandparents
are Betty and Fred
Nederlander of
Franklin and
Barbara and Ted
Coden of West
Bloomfield.
Jacqueline is an
honor student at Carmel Valley Middle
School in San Diego. Contributing to
Kids Korps, a group that helps children
living in group homes, has been a spe-
cial volunteer project for Jacqueline.
