Included in the allocations are $15,000 for a program to help Druze women find employment and $10,000 for Hand in Hand, a center for Jewish and Arab educa- tion. Hand in Hand, founded in 1998 by two educators, edu- cates about 530 students in schools in Jerusalem and the Galilee, co- taught by Jewish and Arab teachers Levin to equal numbers T of Jewish and Arab students. The Druze Women's Employment Initiative is an American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee program that provides these women with profession- al training including catering, hair- dressing and cosmetology. "We're one of the only federations in the country that supports the Druze Women's Employment Initiative pro- gram," said Washtenaw Federation Executive Director Jeffrey Levin. About $556,000, or more than one- third of the $1.5 million raised by Ann Arbor's Federation is allocated to overseas programs, he said.
