received the Constitutional Law Prize
from the
University of
Detroit-Mercy
Law School for
the highest grade
in constitutional
law. Toll received
his bachelor of
arts degree from
Indiana
University in

with a major in
telecommunications and a minor in
business. He studied abroad at the
University of Grenada in Spain. He is
the son of Sheldon Toll and Dr.
Roberta Toll.
Farmington Hills attorney Julie I.
Fershtman has been invited to
become a fellow of the American Bar
Foundation. Active in bar association
activities, Fershtman serves on the
State Bar of Michigan Board of

Dr. Alan M. Mindlin of Bloomfield
Hills was installed as the president of
the Michigan State Medical Society.
He is an ophthalmologist with offices
in Pontiac and Southfield and is the
first elected Jewish president of the
society. He is a founding member of

Dr. Robert Arking of Troy, a profes-
sor in the biological science depart-
ment at Wayne State University in
Detroit, was named as the Fuibright
Distinguished Professor of Natural
Sciences at the University of
Salzburg, Austria. He will spend the
winter term 2006 in Salzburg, lectur-
ing on aspects of biogerontolog,y.
Sue Marx Films and the Detroit
Zoological Institute were awarded

From Animal Showboat to Animal
Lifeboat. The production team mem-
bers are Sue Marx, Allyson Fink
Rockwell, Char DeWolf. Ron Kagan,
director of the institute, co-wrote the
script and was executive producer.
Dr. Thomas L. Slovis of Bloomfield
Township received the Gold Medal
Award from the
Society for
Pediatric
Radiology. He is a
professor of radiol-
ogy and pediatrics
at Wayne State
University School
of Medicine and
Children's Hospital
of Michigan, both

in Detroit. He is
the American edi-
tor of Pediatric Radiology, the only
journal in pediatric radiology.
Dr. Michael Chopp, distinguished
professor of physics at Oakland
University in Rochester, has been
appointed to the Zoltan J. Kovacs
chair in neuroscience research through
the Detroit-based Henry Ford Health
System.
Richard S. Victor of the law offices of
