Farmington Hills attorney Julie I.
Fershtman has been invited to
become a fellow of the American Bar
Foundation. Active in bar association
activities, Fershtman serves on the
State Bar of Michigan Board of
Commissioners as well as the board of
directors for the Oakland County Bar
Association. She is a trustee of the
Michigan State Bar Foundation.
Fershtman, the author of two law-
related books and 150 published arti-
cles, is of counsel to the law firm Of
Zausmer, Kaufman, August &
Caldwell P C.

Dr. Tammy Movsas of Southfield has
joined the medical staff at the West
Bloomfield facili-
ty of Henry Ford
Medical Center.
She completed
her opthamology
residency at the
Washington
National Eye
Center in
Wahington,
D.C. She is the
Movsas
first neuro-
opthamologist to practice at the med-
ical center on Maple Road.

Dr. Alan M. Mindlin of Bloomfield
Hills was installed as the president of
the Michigan State Medical Society.
He is an opthalmologist with offices
in Pontiac and Southfield and is the
first elected Jewish president of the
society He is a founding member of
Temple Shir Shalom.

Dr. Robert Asking of Troy, a professor
in the biological science department at
Wayne State University in Detroit,
was recently named as the Fulbright
Distinguished Professor of Natural
Sciences at the University of Salzburg,
Austria. He will spend the winter term
2006 in Salzburg, lecturing -on aspects
of biocrerontolocrv.

Sue Marx Films and the Detroit
Zoological Institute were awarded
LINE Golden Eagles for their film

From Animal Showboat to Animal
Lifeboat. The production team mem-
bers are Sue Marx, Allyson Fink
Rockwell and Char DeWolf. Ron
Kagan, DZO director, co-wrote the
script and was executive producer.

Dr. Thomas L. Slovis of Bloomfield
Township received the Gold Medal
Award from the
Society for
Pediatric
Radiology. He is a
professor of radi-
ology and pedi-
atrics at the
Wayne State
University School
of Medicine and
Slovis
Children's
Hospital of Michigan, where he is
chief of pediatric imaging. He is the
American editor of Pediatric Radiolo0
the only journal in pediatric radiology.

Jeff Sand, a philosophy major and
magna cum laude graduate of Santa
Clara University, received the honor of
nomination for valedictorian class of
2005. He will attend Vanderbilt
University School of Law in Nashville.
He is the son of former residents of
Southfield Dr. Bruce and Sheri Sand.

Dr. Michael Chopp, distinguished
professor of physics at Oakland
University in Rochester, has been
appointed to the Zoltan J. Kovacs
chair in neuroscience research through
the Henry Ford Health System.

Richard S. Victor of the law offices of
Richard S. Victor PLLC in Bloomfield
Hills is the 2005 honoree of the
Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club for
Respect for Law Day.
