PROM Continued from page 27 HAIR UPDATE: Prom 2005 is more than just a special evening to dress up and socialize for Maddy, 18, and Sam, 17, both of West Bloomfield. The for- mal dinner dance, which will be May 31 at the Roostertail in Detroit, marks the last hurrah before gradua- tion, when the two young ladies will part ways and follow sepa- rate dreams. In the fall, Maddy, senior-class vice pres- ident and sports edi- tor of the school paper, heads to the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia after a rigorous high school program of AP classes and extra-curricular activities. Blending her love of food and business, Sam has spent the last year participating in an innovative vocational program through West Bloomfield High School, receiving education and training in all aspects of the food services industry. She moves on in September to Michigan State University in East Lansing to study hotel and restau- rant management. "She's leaving me!" jokes Sam, referring to her best pal going out of state to college in the fall. But if there is one certainty going forward as the girls venture out into the world, it is that during college breaks and beyond, Maddy Zingle and Samantha Sher will be back together baking in the kitchen and reaffirming their common bond and lifelong friendship. For Maddy and Sam, prom 2005 is both a fancy soiree to end the school year and celebration of a friendship that has traversed from childhood into adulthood.
