Martin Adelman teaches at the
George Washington Law School in
Washington, D.C., where he is the
Theodore and James Pedas Family
Professor of Intellectual Property and
Technology; co-director of Intellectual
Property Law Program and co-director
of the Dean Dinwoodey Center for
Intellectual Property Studies.
• Susan Hershberg Adelman recently
embarked as an artist after a successful
career as a pediatric surgeon in
Dearborn. Dr. Adelman was the first
woman president of the Michigan State
Medical Society and the Wayne County
Medical Society.
Lori and Maurice Pogoda are second-
generation Shin Award recipients. Lori
was the first female president of B'nai
Moshe's junior congregation. Maurice is
serving on the B'nai Moshe develop-
ment committee. Maurice is president of
Pogoda Companies, a commercial real
estate company specializing in self-stor-
age and manufactured housing proper-
ties. Lori helped Maurice establish
Pogoda Companies in 1987 and worked
in real estate for many years.

The Detroit Jewish Theological
Seminary Cabinet, chaired by Ken Goss
and Bobbie Miller, will co-sponsor the
first ever JTS Celebrates Families Zoo
Outing with area Conservative syna-
gogues and Hillel Day School.
The family experience is scheduled
for Sunday, May 15, 1-5 p.m. at the
Detroit Zoo, 8450 W. 10 Mile, Royal
Oak. The program is open to all. Early
registration will be $10.50 per adult and
.$6.50 per child younger than 12. For
families with Detroit Zoo membership,
there is no charge.
The program will include touring, a
scavenger hunt and refreshments. Karen
Alpiner chairs the committee, which
includes Jennie Allan, Flissa Berg, Faya
Gene, Danny Kochavi, Daniella
Mechnikov and Susan Sinai. For reserva-
dons or information, call the JTS office,

The Adlers have been members of
Beth Ahm since 1970. Tom became a
builder and is president and owner of
Adler Homes in Brighton. Chava taught
Hebrew and Jewish education with the
United Hebrew Schools for 25 years.
She taught at Hillel Day School and
Yeshivat Akiva.
The Weisbergs have been members of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek for more
than 60 years. Alvin is the chairman and
president of Total Pet Supplies Inc. Both
contributed their attention and resources
to Hadassah, ORT, Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, Jewish Federation
Apartments, Jewish Family Service,
Fresh Air Society, Jewish Community
Center, Israel Bonds and other causes.
Allen Wolf and Mandy Garver are
active members of Beth Shalom where
Mandy serves as a trustee on the board
of directors and was chair of the rabbi
search committee. She has co-chaired
the Cultural Commission and is a mem-
ber of Beth Shalom's sisterhood. Allen is
a regular usher and is a member of the
men's club. Together, both serve on the
social action committee and have volun-
teered for Beth Shalom's Homeless Week
and Fall Clean Up projects.
