Wrong Music Week
I just finished reading about the
"Rocker Chicks" (April 14, page 46)
and how they have put together the
Motor City Music Conference
(MC2). I was very excited about the
conference and all of the great bands,
speakers and venues participating in it
until I realized that it was happening
during Passover, especially the first
two nights.
As someone who is preparing to
change my entire kitchen and have
two seders for my friends and family, I
cannot stop the plans and cooking to
attend the conference.
I am just disappointed that these
women who talk about their Jewish
values and how important being
Jewish is to them did not stop to
think that there may be another more
appropriate weekend to plan their
conference.

I want to commend the Jewish News
on its delightful article about the latest
achievement of Rabbi Francine
Roston, in her appointment as senior
rabbi at Congregation Beth El in
South Orange, N.J. ("Grondbreaking
Achievement," April 7, page 77).
I have had the pleasure of knowing
Rabbi Roston for a number of years,
spending time with her during her vis-
its to Metropolitan Detroit. I wish
Rabbi Roston, her family and new
congregation great success in their
new relationship.

Although I currently live in Florida, a
college friend living in Bloomfield
Hills forwarded me the wonderful
article by Editor Robert Sklar tided "A
Life Saving Effort" (April 7, page 11)
about [Jewish leader] Max Fisher and
my father, Dr. Daniel Man.
I showed the article to my father,
and it brought tears to his eyes; he was
very touched. I graduated from the
University of Michigan in 1996. Had
I known a great person like Max
Fisher lived so near, I would have
made every effort to meet him person-
ally to thank him.

I couldn't have imagined the con-
nection a 12-year-old would feel being
in Israel, being able to put it all
together and how important having a
Jewish day school education has been
for him. It is truly a gift that we give
to them. It really put a lot into"per-
spective for him. I thank the adminis-
tration and the staff at Hillel Day
School.
