Gleaners Community Food Bank, located in
Detroit, distributes nearly two million pounds of
food monthly to hungry citizens in southeastern
Michigan. Kay Cowger, Jennifer Fischer and Ariela
Shani co-chaired the event.
Orman, author of The Money Book for the Young,
Fabulous and Broke, captivated the audience with her
tips for financial success. She talked about the impor-
tance of finance and estate planning. She mentioned
a will and a Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO) credit
score rating as top priorities. "A FICO score is a
three-digit number that determines the interest rate
you will pay on your
credit cards, car loan
and home mortgage."
She also talked about
real estate as a good
investment. She noted
the best advice: "Invest
in yourselves."
