Steffie Dorfman and Avi Beneson just after they became engaged inside a New York City
Toys R Us last November.

How do you share a moment like that,
and then let your only other daughter
become engaged without you? In our
family, you don't.
So when Avi Beneson came to us
last October with his hope of marry-
ing our youngest child, Steffie, we told
him yes, but told her that we told Avi
to ask again after she graduated from

college in May.
And in November, the real time
came. Our family and Avi's traveled to
New York on a day when Steffie
would be there visiting Avi, a student
at Yeshiva University. She thought it
was just a visit, but to Avi, it was the
culmination of a secret plan.
Minutes after he proposed — atop
the Ferris wheel in the three-story-tall
Toys R Us in Times Square — they
entered a kosher restaurant where we
stood up to sing Siman Toy U Mazel
Toy, joined by other customers who
easily guessed the occasion.

Suddenly, there was a whole lot to do.
And there already was a lot of wed-
ding planning going on.
Steffie and Avi's May 30 wedding
will be just two months after her
cousin Hallie Fox marries Ryan Jaffe,
and six weeks before her cousin Aimee
Dorfman marries Benji Kleiman.
The planning for Steffie and Avi's
weddinob began as soon as we returned
from New York. First came a party at
Young Israel of Southfield, an open
house for Steffie's family and friends to
meet Avi's.
It wasn't long before we discovered
that wedding plans are much simpler
the second time around. And, we also
discovered that most plans beget fur-
ther plans.
While trying on gowns at the bridal
shop, we were reminded to order
