Mr. Lurie is survived by his wife,
Elizabeth "Betty" Lurie of
Farmington Hills; daughter, Shira
Lurie of Berkley; son, David Lurie of
Berkley; sister, Dale Lurie of
Farmington Hills.
Interment at Adat Shalom

Bloomfield, died March 13, 2005.
She was children's department store
sales consultant.
Mrs. Moss is survived by her
daughter, Marilyn H. Fine of
Clawson; son and daughter-in-law,
Howard and Kim Moss of Florida;
grandchildren, Lori and Jim Ryan,
Alan Fine, Joel Fine, Harvey and
Samantha Moss, Debra and Brian
Haag, Dr. Steven and Dr. Nicole
Moss; great-grandchildren, Noah
and Gabrielle Ryan, Calib Moss,
Hugh Moss, Alyssa Haag. She was
the beloved wife of the late Milton
B. Moss; dear sister of the late Yetta
Yates and the late Bess Yura.
Interment at Beth El Memorial

RABBI JULIUS SHUBACK, 83, of
West Bloomfield, formerly of East
Chicago and Merrilville, Ind., died
March 13, 2005. He received his
early rabbinical training at the
yeshivah in Frankfurt am Main. His
father, Joseph Shubach, died of a
heart attack on Kristallnacht, and
young Julius was forced by the Nazis
to bury his own father. He became
the only member of his immediate
family to flee Nazi
Germany and settle in
America.
After a brief stay in New

York, Rabbi Shuback

moved to Chicago, where
he furthered his rabbinic
studies at the Hebrew
Theological College.While in
Chicago, he met Jewel Soloski,
whom he married in 1943. They
were married for 60 years.
The Shubacks spent most of their
lives in East Chicago and Indiana,
where Rabbi Shuback served as spiri-
tual leader for Congregation Beth
(later B'nai) Sholom for close to 50
years. He served in numerous roles,
including rabbi, cantor, teacher, and
sometimes janitor and maintenance
man. He was the first Conservative
rabbi in Northwest Indiana to per-
form bat mitzvahs.
When the original Beth Sholom
voted. to merge with two other
Conservative congregations in
Northwest Indiana and relocate to
Hammond, Rabbi Shuback and
approximately half of the congre-
gants decided to reorganize and
YAKOV PRESAIZEN, 84, of
Southfield, died March 12, 2005.
He is survived by his sons and
daughters-in-law, Eugene and Alla
Presaizen of West Bloomfield;
Anatoli Presaizen of New York;
grandchildren, Oscar and Zhanna.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Maryam Presaizen.
Interment was at Hebrew
Memorial Park Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice.
