ORT Honors Dr. Sandberg

Oakland County physician Hershel
Sandberg became a member of the
1880 Society upon making a signifi-
cant contribution to Women's
American ORT (WAO) in memory of
his wife of 50 years, Lois.
Dr. Sandberg has practiced medicine
for 40 years. He described Lois as "a
gracious and compassionate leader,
dedicated to improving the lives of
ORT students through education."
The Sandbergs made a founder's con-
tribution in 2001 to the Hermelin
ORT Resource Center at the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield. Lois was president of the
Michigan Region of WAO. Dr.
Sandberg now co-chairs the Diamond
Ladder Campaign in Michigan and is a
member of the Baroness De Gunzbourg
Society, WAO's planned giving society.
The 1880 Society, an international
society for major donors, was created
in 2004 by World ORT in celebration
of ORT's 125th year. ORT is the
Jewish world's leader in technical
training and one of the largest non-
governmental networks of vocational
education and technological training
programs in the world.
