Dr. Goldrath, 77, of Franklin died Feb. 16, 2005. He was doctor of obstetrics and gynecology and prac- ticed in Southfield and Farmington Hills for 40 years. He was a pioneer of the laser endometrial ablation technique and also developed a hydro-ablation sys- tem that is now used worldwide. He one of the first doctors to perform a hysteroscopy in the United States. Dr. Goldrath, a graduate of University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, served as the chairman of Sinai Hospital of Detroit's Ob-Gyn Department, from 1974 to 1986. He was an associate professor at Wayne State University in Detroit and a captain in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was also a member of Temple Israel and served on the board of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, the Allied Jewish Campaign and ORT. "He was not only our dad, he was everybody's dad and all our friends just loved him," said daughter Janet Loeb. "He was warm, giving, involved in our lives and an incredi- ble example to everybody." "He was the kindest, gentlest per- son," said Dr. David Goldrath, his son. "He had a very distinctive and infectious laugh. Everybody knew he was there." Dr. Goldrath's wife, Gail, called him "enormously loving and spe- cial." We loved one another tremen- dously.
