Emanu-El Aids Tsunami Relief

About S3,000 was raised at Temple
Emanu-El's Tsunami Relief/Spaghetti
Dinner on Jan. 27. Sponsored by the
Social Action Committee, the event was
attended by more than 150 people.
Tables were set with "place maps" of
the Indian Ocean basin, ready to be
colored with markers held in center-
pieces decorated with flags of the 14
affected countries.
One table sported a tikkun olam
sculpture with three figures repairing
the broken world. Surrounding the
sculpture were 14 candles in candle
holders that provided cultural facts
about each affected country.
In another area were more than 100
bags of sunflower seeds labeled "Seeds
of Hope." In each bag were 1,000 seeds
representing 1,000 individuals lost in
the disaster. Guests were encouraged to
feed the birds this winter and let
