Michelle Sider was especially
impressed by this aspect of the pro-
gram, because the children learned
so much. Answers took research.
"They had to go around and ask a
lot of questions, and then they
learned who helps the elderly, the
mentally ill, how to get housing."
Also included in the bag was the
Mitzvah Book, a list of local charita-
ble groups, both Jewish and secular.
"This was fabulous," Sider says.
"Nov whenever families want to
give, they can pull out this book and
talk about tzedakah and where they
want to give with their children. It's
an outstanding resource."
Through the Ben Teitel Israel
Incentive Savings Plan, participants
received information on how to
begin saving for a future visit to
Israel.
Finally, children traded in their
pennies for faux dollars, which will

be traded in yet again, this time for
real dollars, then given directly to
the charitable organizations ear-
marked by the boys and girls.
This year's Tzedakah Experience,
coordinated by Debbie Rosenberg,
was chaired by Susan Terebelo and
Amy °lender. The associate chairs
were Robyn Canvasser and Laurie
Fisher, and the adviser was Randi
Sakwa.
The Penny Harvest was chaired by
Margot Gardener and Karen Berger,
and Michelle Sider and Jodi
Weinfeld were associate chairs.
Adviser was Jodi Goodman. ❑
