Metro Digest Adat Shalom, JCC Partner B'nai B'rith Bestows Honor To help promote awareness of the pro- grams offered by other organizations, the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit has announced a new partnership with Adat Shalom Synagogue. During February, Adat Shalom con- gregants receive special incentives toward JCC membership, including use of the Center Fitness Club and participation in a variety of cultural activities. Representatives from Adat Shalom will be on site at both Center locations presenting information about their congregation, including new Neshama Minyan services with Rabbi Rachel Shere, young adult social and spiritual programming, Wednesday evening Limmud learning and Adat Shalom's newly renovated sanctuary. The JCC hopes this initial relation- ship will expand to other organizations interested in outreach to the greater community. On Wednesday evening, April 13, B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region will present the international Guardian of the Menorah Award to Dr. Owen Z. Perlman of Ann Arbor at a dinner in his honor. Services will begin at 5:45 p.m. Family dinner will follow services. There is no charge. Recognition will be made of Scouts who have earned the Maccabee, Aleph, Ner Tamid or Etz Chaim emblems this year. Mention the award when making reservations. Forum Focus: Disabilities Motivational speaker Norm Kunc will lecture Feb. 2 and 3 at three Jewish communal venues. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, he will talk on "If You Want Your Children to Succeed, Teach Them How to Fail." JFS Earns Shoah Grant Jewish Family Service was awarded a grant of $20,000 to establish the Erwin and Riva Baker Memorial Holocaust Survivors Emergency Fund, which will provide emergency assis- tance to indigent survivors in the Detroit area. The grant, established by Steven Gershman, of Oak Park, is adminis- teredthrough the Humanitarian Aid Foundation (HAF) in Washington, D.C.
