Glazer Institute On Tap Advice For Parents On Friday, Feb. 11, Rabbi Marc Saperstein will be the scholar in resi- dence for Temple Beth El's annual Rabbi B. Benedict and Ada S. Glazer Institute on Judaism for the Christian, Eastern Orthodox, Muslim and Protestant Clergy. The institute, attend- ed annually by 300 area clergy, originat- ed in 1942. This year's speaker, Rabbi Saperstein, is the Charles E. Smith Professor of Jewish History and direc- tor of the program in Judaic studies at George Washington University. He is the author of sever- al books and 30 articles and reviews on Jewish history, literature and Saperstein thought. The rabbi will address participants in .rwo lectures on Feb. 11 on "Jews Under Christianity and Islam: What Does the Historical Record Show?" A 9:30 a.m. address is titled 'Abraham as Common Ancestor: Does Sharing Unite or Divide?" The 10:45 presentation will be on "Christian Doctrine and the Nazi Death Camps: The Ambiguities of Influence." Both sessions are open to the community at no charge. Rabbi Saperstein will speak at Shabbat services 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, on "Jews and Muslims: Contacts Through the Centuries." His topic at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, will be "How Golden Was the Golden Age in Spain?" Chairs of this year's institute are Dr. Robert and Fayclare Blau.
